Chief Tackapousha, Grand Sachem

 

Chief Sachem Tackapousha, son of Sachem Mechoswodt. Born in 1598. Died in 1697. His brothers were: Chepercowaw (the Chipouse family ancestors), Conjamin, Samos, Oroway, and Rumsuck.

He was the Father of Chief Asharoken, Opassum, Wenox.

Tackapousha was a Chief who stood up for his people even in the most despairing of situations.
